Horticulture Apprenticeship at
Shuttleworth College
Jack: I decided to join the apprenticeship scheme at
Shuttleworth College as I wanted a higher level of qualification to
help improve my skills and obviously the fact that I could earn
whilst I learn was also a huge benefit.
Dan: We were all working at Beadlow Manor Golf
Club as green keepers and we were quite lucky in that the golf club
is keen on offering apprenticeships to its staff, to be honest the
fact that I could go on to study an apprenticeship was one of the
big draws in applying for the job in the first place.
Fred: One of the best things about a
horticulture apprenticeship is that we learn skills which can also
be applied to other careers, for example one day I would quite like
to become a landscape gardener.
Jack: I think we would all agree that
Shuttleworth College is a great location, as well as the huge
amount of natural resources there is also a really friendly
atmosphere.
Dan: I would say that overall the best thing
about doing an apprenticeship is the opportunity to learn the
theory behind the things we do on a daily basis, so that we aren’t
just doing things because we are told to but we have a much better
understanding of the reasons why.
Jack: I would definitely recommend an
apprenticeship if the opportunity
