Apprenticeships FAQ

What will I study?

Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes – you work and get paid to gain an industry qualification. You will be able to choose a pathway that suits your skills including crop production farming, livestock production or poultry production.


How long will it take?

Up to 2 years.


What do I need to start?

  • You must be employed full-time in a related job and willing to attend College part-time (we can help you find a job if you are not already employed) AND
  • 2 GCSEs A*-D including English

What qualifications will I gain?

  • City & Guilds/ NPTC Level 2 Diploma in Work-Based Agriculture
  • Functional skills in English and Maths
  • A competency certificate

What can I do next?

Apprenticeships train you in the skills employers want, so when you have finished you can carry on working and you may be promoted or go on to a higher level course at College.
