Shuttleworth College fisheries students in
Bedfordshire have acted as marshals for the World Carp Classic for
6 years. 14 lucky students were selected to travel to Lac de Madine
near Metz in France for the 2011 competition and were privileged to
weigh in fish up to 25.3 kg. The winners, a team from Germany,
weighed in over 350 kg of carp. Most carp caught throughout the
competition were over 15kgs.
As well as the WCC event, which next year is
to be held in Lago di Bolsena 50 miles north of Rome, Shuttleworth
College fisheries students will also be attending the World Catfish
Classic on the River Ebro in Spain in late May/early June 2012.
