Horticulture students from Shuttleworth College were delighted when
keen royal grower, Prince Charles, stopped off to look at their
garden design at the Ideal Home Show.
Shuttleworth was among eight colleges across
the UK shortlisted to exhibit at the show and when on a walkabout
Prince Charles stopped off to take a closer look at the garden
grown in Bedfordshire.
“We didn’t win an award but ours was the only garden the Prince
stopped to view - so we won Royal approval,” said Geoff Deeble,
Horticulture Course Manager.
The garden design was rooted in biodiversity and sustainability,
which is a theme close to the heart of the Royal farmer.
Shuttleworth and Bedford Colleges are tall poppies in the field of
sustainability in education.
