The Animal Management FdSc is validated by, and leads to
an award of, the University of Bedfordshire
This Foundation Degree offers you a unique mix of the practical,
scientific, technical and business principles that underpin animal
management. It provides you with high quality, broad-based training
in animal related biological sciences and is based around a
framework of core animal management activities. You will gain a
firm understanding of related sciences, together with a series of
complementary business, management and marketing units.
You will benefit from our specialist facilities such as our
Animal Centre that houses a broad range of animals including exotic
and endangered species. In addition, our science laboratories have
the latest scientific equipment for dissection and microscope
analysis. Work-based learning is fundamental to this course adding
hands-on experience to the skills and knowledge you develop in the
classroom and helping to make you more employable.

Further study/career prospects
On successful completion of this course you could progress to a
variety of higher qualifications. You can also build a career in a
wide range of animal care, welfare and housing facilities such as:
wildlife parks and zoos; kennels and catteries; farms; animal
welfare charities; veterinary hospitals; animal rehabilitation
units; animal health and nutrition research centres. There are also
opportunities to work in local Government for councils and with a
range of other agencies and commercial sector employers.
Course length
2 to 3 years depending whether you choose to study full-time or
part-time.
Entry requirements
A typical offer would require you to obtain a UCAS tariff score
of between 80-120 points, based on your Level 3 studies, including
a relevant science area. Many students studying for Foundation
Degrees come through work-based routes so you can apply even if you
do not have traditional academic qualifications.
Examination and assessment
A variety of assessment methods through examinations,
computer-based assessments, essays, practical reports, practical
skills assessments, seminar presentations, laboratory skills and
project reports.
