Our green credentials
Shuttleworth College has introduced the following sustainable
working practices:
- The Horticulture department grow flowers which are then used by
the Floristry department as a teaching resource
- The Agriculture department send all used oil for recycling
where it is either refined again or used in power stations
- All scrap steel from the College is recycled
- All chemical containers from the College Farm are recycled
- All straw harvested on the College farm is used for livestock
bedding
- All College livestock manure is used on the College farm,
saving on the cost of fertilisers
Recycling
We have recycling points across campus where we recycle,
paper, newspapers, magazines, aluminium cans, plastic cups and
bottles. For a full list, see our Recyling Information document.
Our green initiative doesn’t just stop there, our Garden
Restaurant will also be recycling food waste which will generate
electricity and make an organic fertiliser! Why not find out more
information about Food Waste?
